A while back I got in to a discussion where I was wondering whether animals other than humans have experience cognitive bias blindness. and even emailed pw about that since, hey, blindsight.

(see links in http://mindhacks.com/2009/07/1…..yone-else/ )

If survival is difficult, then wouldn't some biases be too dangerous to have? take illusory superiority. it might cause an animal to misjudge when it should escalate things to a fight. or attempt to jump to a branch that it wouldn't be able to reach.

that's one level of cognitive biases I wonder about.

and then the next level is meta-cognitive biases. like that cognitive bias blindness. that's on a different level. have we been able to detect meta-cognition in animals? (much less mega-cognitive bias)

thoughts?
