Knocking out a gene called RGS14 makes mice smarter by improving their learning ability and memory. But the scientists suppose side effects, e.g. improved vulnerability to seizures and altered social behaviour. And the gene exists in humans, too …

Sometimes I can find papers linked directly from a research lab page or a page of one of the author's (happened with the choice blindness articles) but I haven't pulled up anything in this case.
