I hope he makes a blog post with details about working with a game company, artists, programmers, etc. I'm curious about the process, and how they go through iterations of work.

Jeff Vogel posts about his ongoing work on Avedon, e.g. http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com…..acter.html and it is interesting to watch behind the scenes.

Oh, interesting, no doubt that would be cool.  Although shoot em ups don't do it for me, Peter's take on things is sure to add interest.

Remember that you can get one insight into the boy's treehouse atmosphere at game software companies already from Peter in Sofanauts #31, in his dual interview with Paul di Filipo by Tony C. Smith:

Apparently, gargantuan Costco-sized repositories of junk food are de rigeur for these code-mills, eliciting this wonderful description of the view at Valve software:

(around minute 19)  They have this room right in the middle of Valve, in the most protected part of the building, where they have a great, snack-food Mecca … huge tubs of M&Ms, big round cookies the size of pumpkins with hard pink sugar icing on them, forests of Twizzler's, as far as the eye can see … I still get hard just thinking about it.

I love the description, and the wonder with which he describes the sight of snack food Mecca for a starving writer.  *laughs*  Good stuff.

Oh I gotta listen to that when I get a chance

plus, I've read a lot of him. which I can't remember the plots of. I've read Ribofunk and who knows what else. I liked him a lot so was glad he did lots of book reviews (does he still? canna remember).

I don't how that German company would be to work for, if they are at all large then it could be miserable. I've heard how awful some of the big places are to work. iirc someone's wife wrote a long blog post about the horrors of EA and a plea for companies like that to change.

We've got gaming companies here, smaller. I'm guessing smaller is better.

Free talk from ConceptArt/Massive Black/The Art Department people, hours long, talks about situation in number of industries (including games), but it's from the artists perspective.
