right-o, this is a picture from a promo presentation by the Grid Authority, as i imagined it.
the text is from rifters.com and the woman is a stock photo from mjranum
i have to admit that it is a little sloppy. i've gotten better at photo manips since then.

this baby, also inspired by squids (and hp lovecraft) is hanging in the entrance to my apartment.
and who wouldn't want to be greeted by this every day after work?
the larger version is right here.
last one is of course the one i made when PW got in trouble with the law.

that's all for now!

I kinda had a different idea for the GA logo bouncing around in my head. I guess I may have to take a shot at bringing my minds eye to life…… now where is my photoshop disk?!?!?!?!?
I kinda like the last one too…… kinda looks like it should be on a tee shirt or somthing ;)

yes, i agree about the GA logo, i sort of didn't know what i was doing. it's uneven and.. myeah.
the free the squid has been for sale as a tee for.. 9 months now. i set it up when people wanted to donate money to watts' legal fund. turns out only one person wanted to pay for a t-shirt. but that person bought two!

Ha! Nice to know I wasn't the only one who made something for that debacle. Yours is far cuter though. Nice =)
Pretty nice integration on the second one where the main tentacle attaches.
And I have to say, I love mjranum, he does some great work, stock and otherwise.

Whoa, squid woman is in the entrance to your apartment? Get many visitors, do you?
I'd love to see the faces of the Jehova's Witnesses who come knocking

a promo presentation by the Grid Authoritya promo presentation by the Grid Authority
I like the combo of modern fashion magazine with the creepiness of the idea and image? Sex to sell deep sea diving gear. Also the Grid Authority logo.

Dude, I don't care if that was stock footage; it doesn't look the least bit sloppy to me. I love that ad.
Grid Authority runs the power supply for all of N'AmPac, however; they're not just deep-sea geothermal. So I'm guessing the logo would be a wee bit less mariney and a whole lot more griddy.
Still Love it. Nice break from tearing the bedroom apart.

I always pictured the GA logo looking like the grid of ley-lines over North America, for some inexplicable reason. Inexplicable because ley lines are like the opposite of science.

i thought i made the GA logo sort of non descript, like it could have been used by a bank or any other company that wanted to look rich and comforting. but the font lacks.. gravitas.. and it is uneven and whatnot. i did a new logo today, just not sure where to use it…
and the idea was that the management would sit around a conference table and they'd wanna see pictures of their new wet suit and the marketing department hired some model to pose for pictures, since lenie clarke would just tell them to feck off if they asked her. here's the original stock, and it's NSFW. also, thanks for liking it!
the squid lady! i had some ISP tech over here earlier this week, who took a glance at it and wished that whatever needed fixing would be quick and easy. little did she know…
also, am i the only one making fan art?

I saw a map of underwater cables the other day. A styleized version of that might be more appropriate if you want something more along technological lines.
tried googling for the map I saw (it was a poster on the wall. I didn't see it online). maybe here

then also the idea of power grid could be used. http://www.npr.org/templates/s…..=110997398
clicking around on the npr app gives even more ideas… I've forgotton all of the things the grid authority did but considering that they were harvesting geothermal energy one might take ideas from the maps (npr had a solor one, for example) and have stylized respresentation of geothermal sources.
do you guys also read information visualization blogs? I love those, when I have time.

Hey Mats~ that was really wonderful of you to make that tee. Do you print them yourself? I saw your tee on that Free the Squid/Kitty Website…back in March.

hey keanani, the squid t-shirts were printed by the folks at cafepress, i just designed it and set the price. it's all automated. cafepress wanted $10, so i set the price to 15 and donated the 2x5 dollars i made from the two tees i sold. (i also found the pic at david nickle's blog, which made me squee inappropriately.)
@stackhouse eww! or… no, wait.. woho!

Hey Mats,
Any chance you'd make something like what you've posted here on a tee?

Alright Mats. You asked for it. I cobbled together some of my stuff and made a quickie Flickr page. Don't mind the lame titles, I had to think fast for those, and unfortunately it was whatever popped up in my mind.
Of course, nothing as cool as what you showed, but here is some of my stuff which includes some cephalopodic imagry:
